Roots in the North Polk Community​

Shane and Mandy are long-time residents of Polk City, raising their family in a community they love. In 2021, when Elkhart identified a severe shortage of quality childcare, they were invited to build a solution—and brought Shooting Star Childcare to life. The result is a thoughtfully designed 12,500‑sqft center that now serves infants through school-aged children in a safe, creative, and nurturing environment in the Elkhart Community.

Their Family & Values​

Outside of work, Shane & Mandy are active members of their church, have participated in several local committees, and enjoy cheering on the Comets!  They are the parents of three busy kids, Gavin (15), Cohan (19) and Andrea (21), and own and operate several local businesses.

Shane and Mandy aren’t just focused on childcare—they’re deeply committed to supporting local economic growth. Together, they’ve invested in a range of family-focused businesses, including real estate, development projects, hospitality, franchises, and other ventures, primarily throughout Iowa and especially in the North Polk area. Their philosophy is consistent across everything they do: offer welcoming, reliable, and community-centered services that enrich lives and support local families.
